A particular attraction of the Stilfserjoch National Park’s first “berry hotel” is its specialisation in the berries grown in the valley.

Martell – your “berry” holiday home

A vibrant, fruity red colour shines out at you between June and September, if you travel to the Martell Valley, the highest strawberry growing area in Europe.
Yes, for more than 40 years strawberries have been grown here up to 1,800 metres above sea level and strictly examined for their quality by the MEG – Martell Valley Growers’ Cooperative.
Martell, the valley of the berries – due to the altitude of the growing areas the strawberries ripen very slowly in the sunshine and because of this have a particularly sweet aroma.

Stilfserjoch National Park

The Stilfserjoch National Park covers an area of 134,620 hectares in the middle of the central Alps. It includes the entire Ortler-Cevedale mountain massif and its side valleys.
The Stilfserjoch National Park is one of the largest and most interesting protected areas in Europe. All possible alpine features are to be found in the park. From the glaciated high mountains, alpine pastures and terraced slopes to the valley bottoms.
The landscape is shaped by the coexistence of unspoilt nature and a centuries-old history of cultivation with alpine farming and forestry.

Athletic Biathlon and Cross-Country Skiing

The Martell Biathlon and Cross-Country Skiing Centre offers 12 km of excellently prepared runs in fairy tale surroundings in the high mountains for experts and a basic course for beginners.
The sport of cross-country skiing is a healthy way to get close to nature, and makes demands on almost all of the muscle groups in the body. If you have never been cross-country skiing before, why not try a taster lesson?

Off-piste skiing

Skiing in the silent mountains, only your tracks in the deep snow, solo-descents...
The glacier area in the upper Martell valley, at 3,000 metres above sea level is a paradise for both ski tourers and ice climbers.

Silent footsteps

The snowy winter landscape becomes really interesting once you get away from the better-known roads and tracks. Tramp through the undisturbed nooks and crannies in snowshoes and discover the enchanted landscape for yourself.

Tobogganing in the Martell Valley

Our natural toboggan run “Hölderle”, which runs along the frozen brook, proffers yet more fun in the open air.
And for an extra special adventure, the toboggan run is lit up at night.

Ice skating and indoor sport

In the Trattla Sports Zone the visitor will find plenty of activities with which to while away the hours during periods of bad weather or on winter evenings.
