Upper Passeier Valley Holiday Region

General / Location

The Upper Passeier Valley includes the hamlets of Moos, Platt, Pfelders, Rabenstein and Stuls. There are clearly marked hiking paths, meadows filled with flowers, and Nature ready to be experienced! The 46 mountain pastures in Passeier, covering practically the whole of the valley, are not only important to the regional economy. Hospitality with fresh butter and home made bread count here too.

The Texel Group Nature Park is, at 33,430 hectares, the largest of the seven South Tyrolean Nature Parks, and captivates with its highly prized and largely intact natural and cultural landscape.

It’s a very special walkers’ paradise, with a multitude of different habitats, a rich diversity of animals and plants and with safe, well-marked hiking paths.

Covering a range of altitudes almost 3000 metres apart the Nature Park encompasses the entire panoply of South Tyrolean habitats – from the sub-Mediterranean vegetation zone to permafrost. Among the features of the Nature Park are the nine Spronser lakes – the largest high alpine group of lakes in South Tyrol.

The well-known “Meraner Höhenweg” path enables walkers to experience the world of the mountains in all its variety. The popular 120 km-long route circles the Texel Group Nature Park and walkers may start their journey at many different points along its course.

Allow yourself to be enchanted by the fascinating world of the Texel Group Nature Park...

The new Passeier Museum – Andreas Hofer at the Sandhof in St. Leonhard illuminates many aspects of Andreas Hofer’s life in a 20 minute long film. In the Andreas Hofer room there are numerous impressive original exhibits relating to his life and the times in which he lived. An extensive collection of exhibits relating to everyday life in the valley, and a typical Passeirer Haufenhof (type of farmstead) with smithy, mill, granary, bread baking oven, living accommodation and outbuildings can also be seen in the museum. The Passeier Museum is open daily (except Mondays) from Easter until the 1st November from 10am to 6pm.

There is a total of 17 km of cross-country skiing routes in the Upper Passeier Valley, 5km of which are in Innerhütt (just outside Pfelders) and 12 km in Pfelders itself.

Alpine Skiing / Snowboarding There is one chair lift and 3 draglifts available for use in Pfelders, also pistes both for beginners and advanced skiers (in total 5.5 km) and a newly built snow park in Pfelders.

Hiking The many hiking paths can be used both in summer and in winter.

Riding Riding lessons are offered in Pfelders all year round. And if you prefer to explore the village in greater comfort, then you can take a ride in a carriage or sled.

Ice skating In winter there is also an outdoor skating rink.
