The Sarn Valley: an earthy challenge
At
303 square kilometres, the Sarn Valley is, in terms of area, the
largest community in South Tyrol. The valley, which runs from north to
south as far as Bozen, contains ten villages at altitudes from 970 to
1500 metres above sea level. From Bozen, the Sarn Valley can be reached
by car in less than 30 minutes, on a ruggedly romantic road with
panoramic views and 18 tunnels. The valley is 50km long, the river
Talfer flows through it, and it is surrounded by mountains.
